Intense, rich and deep, the Albana Passito Riserva "AR" is the great masterpiece of Fattoria Zerbina, a Romagna winery that has become famous for its great interpretations of Sangiovese but especially for its bottles of Albana passito made from grapes attacked by Molda Nobile, in full Sauternes style.
Albana Passito Riserva "AR" is an extreme and precious wine, with a limited production, born from the same selected grapes used to produce the "Scacco Matto" passito, harvested late, when, due to Muffa Nobile, they have reached an extreme level of dehydration. Fermentation takes place in 100 litre steel tanks, where the wine remains to age for a very long time. While the production process of Scacco Matto involves ageing in barriques, Albana Passito Riserva "AR" knows only the contact of steel so as to enhance the purest characteristics of the grape variety without the addition of tertiary aromas.
Albana passito Riserva "AR" Fattoria Zerbina is a unique wine, at least in Italy, born from a simple but demanding production process and created with the aim of reaching the quality level of the greatest and most important French and German passito wines. The preciousness and refinement of this passito are embodied in a crystal-clear aromatic profile, in a broad and airy fruity sweetness, in an impeccable balance that leaves the room, in the long finish, for juicy notes of bitter orange. All in a symphony of aromas, scents and flavours of rare elegance and harmony, capable of expressing and fully enhancing the character of Albana, a grape variety typical of the hills of Romagna, a grape variety that has now become legendary.
